Trackday Calafat 30/11/2019 by Cartec

As per every 6 months, it came the day of Cartec amazing trackday! It’s normal that almost all of us are working and preparing our cars jus few hours before we should go. First the alignment by Cars Club Valles (thanks πŸ‘ŒπŸ»):

And then I spent the whole Friday afternoon installing the front arms, the front calipers of a BMW M3 E92 and changed the engine oil (Valvoline VR1 5w50 is now in!)

Thanks everybody that helped me πŸ™ƒ

Cartec’s trackdays are totally different than the rest that are organized, we always go 1 day before the event to have dinner and sleep next to the circuit and then next day we go to race!

As expected BBQ is like a mandatory tradition 🀀

The time spent on Friday trying to adapt the calipers was not enough so I had to woke up 1 earlier than the rest and go to the circuit’s boxes to fix them. Taking advantage of waking up early I realized the sun was raising up and… 🌞

So yeah, the 35i’s calipers we’re finished JIT and it was time to test and drive her πŸ˜‹

First laps in the morning didn’t went so well. At my second lap after the engine was at the right oil temperature and also the tyres, one of the caps I installed in the OEM charge pipe went out and the 35i went from having 360 hp to 100 hp due to all the turbo pressure was being leaked… πŸšπŸ’¨

Repairing it:

Thanks to my friend 🐍 it was solved in a matter of minutes, we fixed the plastic cap with some plastic flanges πŸ’ͺ🏻 – Thanks mate

After that, the whole day run smoothly for me and all my friends and the 35i performed amazingly. All the pre work paid off 😌

I tried one pair of tyres I recently bought to my Gallego friend. Those were Nankang Sportnex AR1 and were mounted in the front wheels. They were a little dead as they had some trackdays on their back and the car was under steering more than with Federal 595 RSR so I finally went for Federal again.

Anyway I felt I needed wider tyres on front, 235 is not enough so next move will be to do a square setup, 265 on the 4 wheels 🀀

I have also to mention that the rear roll cage was giving the car a lot more of stability, it has improved a lot. Everything related to the roll cage is thanks to the amazing company IRS Competition as they made it in a short period of time and the car was ready for the trackday. Thanks a lot for put up with me πŸ˜…

Here some videos we could record of the colleagues’ group:

Amazing train of race cars πŸš™πŸšπŸš™

Lastly the 335i at full throttle – 215km/h before the corner:

Due to all those improvements on the 35i I improved my best lap in Calafat of the last time (and first) I drove in there from 1:43.6 (number 8154)…

To this super nice 1:42.2 (number 8235) or 1:42.1 (racechrono) who knows. And the funny fact is that I did my best lap on the last one, it was lap 50th… yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 😁

At the end of the day, not just me, all my f*cking friend were with a big smile in their faces, happiness was flowing all around. All the cars went back to home safe and sound so, what else can we ask for? 😬

Thanks to Cartec for organizing it, Cars Club Valles for the amazing alignment, IRS Competition for the awsome roll cage and all my friends for sharing with me those 2 days!!!!

To finish I will leave some more amazing pictures, be careful and don’t drool your screen… 😏 – thanks 🦜
